Working on POCT implies close collaboration between medical biologists and emergency physicians to ensure analytical precision, compliance with ongoing regulations, and carry out the implementation of devices as well as their daily monitoring.
The history of POCER network has brought together experts already invested and recognized in the field of POCT in emergency medicine, sharing the same vision for its future development.
In France, POCT are part of the ISO 15189 accreditation framework for medical biology laboratories.
POCER is composed of emergency physicians, medical biologists, and a health economic methodologist—experts at both local and national levels in the evaluation and implementation of POCT in emergency medicine. Their expertise is reflected notably through national and international publications.
The governance of the POCER network is structured through two entities: the Steering Committee and the Scientific Council.
The network is coordinated by a project leader, Mrs. Nathalie TERRAS.
The Steering Committee is composed of the founding members of the network, supported by personals from the Department of Innovation and Collaborative Programs of the Clinical Research and Innovation Division at Bordeaux University Hospital (CHU de Bordeaux).
It meets monthly to:

POCER’s skills rely on bringing together, within the same network, key academic stakeholders for the validation and development of POCT : medical biologists, emergency physicians, and health economists.
Based on their experience and previous projects, POCER members have the expertise to lead research projects for evaluating POCTs, from method comparison to impact studies.
We aim to provide companies in the field of in vitro diagnostic, as well as academic researchers, a unique, multicentric one-stop shop able to evaluate emergency biomarkers developed as POCT, in terms of analytical precision, clinical performance, and health-economic impact.
